Early intervention refers to the services and support available to young children with disabilities and/or development delays through Identification and Diagnosis by Pediatrician, Special Educator, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist & Speech Therapist
Special Education, Functional Academics&Customized Programme for Each Child
Special education serves children with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive impairments or with intellectual, hearing, vision, speech, or learning disabilities; gifted children with advanced academic abilities; and children with orthopedic or neurological impairments
Visual aids such as flashcards, pictures, drawings, and graphs are the concrete representation that can help you in communication. Moreover, these visual aids help children to understand the instructions that you as a teacher or parent want them to learn
The Special Educator focuses on teaching different concepts according to the age of the child which requires constant practice & revision. This includes
- # Command following in general
- # Identification & Writing of Alphabets (A to Z) and Numbers (1 to 100)
- # Identification & Writing of Hindi Varnmala
- # Colour Identification and Colouring
- # Counting activities
- # Identification of commonly used vegetables, fruits, flowers, furniture, cloths, body parts, animals, shapes, vehicles, etc.
- # Numerical Skills involving Time, Money and Measurements
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy refers to the therapeutic use of self care, work and play activities to increase independent function, enhance development, prevent disability for the purpose of participation in roles, habits, and routines at home, school, workplace, community, and other settings
Physiotherapy
Children with Mental Retardation often have delay in Motor Developments which affects their physical functional ability. Physiotherapy helps children with special needs to achieve their maximum potential for physical independence and fitness levels.
At Akansha, therapy is planned as per the needs and abilities of the child.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy focuses on developing verbal and non-verbal communication. This form of therapy most commonly caters to children with delays and disorders spanning from mild articulation to complex disorders such as autism, Down’s Syndrome, hearing impairment, motor speech disorders or other developmental delays
Psychological & Behavioural Therapy
At Akansha, Psychologist uses several strategies to help children with special needs to improve their behaviour and social skills
